I will try to make the concept of Mahadasha-Antardasha-Pratyantardasha with a special emphasis on the Pratyantar so simple that a person with some working knowledge of Vedic Astrology will be able to understand and implement the same effectively, AS PER MY SARAL JYOTISH APPROACH. As such, this astrological educational video presentation may be a bit lengthy. Let us start.
The first thing to remember is that Antardasha is of the Mahadasha, and Pratyantardasha is of the Antardasha in the Vimshottari Dasha system. This means Antardasha fulfils a particular promise of a Mahadasha, while an appropriate Pratyantardasha under an Antardasha coordinates with Antardasha to fulfil the same promise.
We can now conclude that Antardasha is answerable and responsible to the Mahadasha, and Pratyantardasha is answerable and responsible to the Antardasha and NOT TO THE MAHADASHA DIRECTLY. MDL is the top boss, followed by ADL, who reports to the MDL directly, and the PDL reports to the ADL and NOT TO THE MDL as per the hierarchy of the Dasha system. ADL is the intermediary between the MDL and the PDL.
Any event promised by the MDL will be implemented by the appropriate ADL under the appropriate PDL under him is the simple concept of the Dasha system.
The concept will be further clear when we discuss the same practically in a horoscope emphasising our discussion to the Pratyantardasha only. Let us discuss the concept on the horoscope of Smt. Indira Gandhi, the horoscope, the astrological fraternity heavily relied upon for its accuracy.
Smt. Indira Gandhi was married on 26 March 1942 during her Rahu-Saturn-Saturn. In the Rashi Chart of Smt. Indira Gandhi, Saturn is the 7th lord from Saturn and the Lagna, meaning repeating promise, once from his natal placement in Cancer and another from the Lagna. As such, Saturn can implement the promise of her marriage as the ADL and the PDL since it has established a two-way link with the 7th house of marital partnership. Let us now consult her birth horoscope.
BIRTH HOROSCOPE OF SMT. INDIRA GANDHI IN SOUTH STYLE
In her Navamsha horoscope, Saturn is in the 11th house of Capricorn is of his lordship and is very strong. Capricorn is also identical to the Natal 7th house. Saturn aspects the Navamsha Lagna and the 7th lord Mercury. Jupiter, the Navamsha Lagna Lord, aspects Saturn. A three-way connection (AD, PD, SD). Then, who can be the better claimant in solemnising her marriage? As such, the marriage of Smt. Indira Gandhi took place during the ADL & PDL of Saturn.
We can now relate the event in terms of MD-AD-PD through a hypothetically practical example, that the order on file came from the MDL Rahu (hypothetically the PMO) to the ADL Saturn (the minister concerned) to ensure marriage of the native during the period of his AD. The ADL Saturn retained the file with him by understanding that none other than him can implement the order as the PDL, for implementation during an appropriate Sookshma Dasha (SD/the department concerned). After the event was solemnised during his AD & PD with the help of the appropriate SD, Saturn returned the file as the ADL (the minister concerned) to the MDL Rahu (hypothetically the PMO) with the compliance report. This is the system how MD-AD-PD functions in relation to our real-life example.
Event: Rajiv Gandhi, her first child, was born on 20 August 1944 during her Rahu-Saturn-Jupiter.
In her birth horoscope, the PDL Jupiter aspects the 5th house of progeny from the ADL Saturn and the Lagna.
In Saptamsha, the PDL Jupiter aspects the 5th house Libra of progeny from the ADL Saturn in Gemini as the Putrakaraka. As such, ADL Saturn assigned the task of blessing the native with progeny to the PDL Jupiter because Pratyantardasha is of the Antardasha and not of the Mahadasha, and Sookshma Dasha (SD) is of the Pratyantardasha, is the chain of functioning of the
Vimshottari Dasha System where MDL is the Head, the ADL is the Minister, and the PDL is the Secretary of the Department concerned. The ADL-PDL-SDL works in complete synergy within the chain of administrative hierarchy in fulfilling the wishes of the MDL, who is the Head of the Dasha System.
Her 2nd child, Sanjay Gandhi, was born on 14 December 1946 during her Rahu-Mercury-Jupiter. In the birth horoscope, PDL Jupiter is the 5th lord from the ADL Mercury in Scorpio. PDL Jupiter also aspects the natal 5th house Scorpio and in the mutual aspects with the ADL Mercury.
In her Saptamsha, PDL Jupiter is the 5th lord from the ADL Mercury in Leo and is in mutual aspects with ADL Mercury and the Lagna Lord, the Moon. When the PDL and ADL are in face-to-face (meaning mutual aspects) or in conjunction, it may be called as Meeting Posture (मिलने की मुद्रा) when it becomes easier and convenient for the ADL to pass on the order to the PDL. ADL & PDL, when in mutual 6/8/12 adverse positions, it becomes difficult for the ADL to pass on the order to the PDL, which is the teaching of Ududaya Pradeep or Laghu Parashari.
She became the Prime Minister of India for the first time on 24 January 1966 during her Jupiter-Sun-Ketu. The PDL Ketu is the shadowy planet and will provide results, according to the promises and disposition of its sign lord.
In the natal horoscope, the PDL Ketu is in Gemini in the sign of Mercury. ADL Sun is in Scorpio, and from Scorpio, the 10th house of profession is Leo with Sun as the 10th lord. Mercury is with the Sun, the 10th lord from the Sun and is aspected by the natal 10th lord, Mars. PDL Ketu, therefore, fully qualifies to deliver the results of the 10th house of profession during the Antardasha of the Sun while acting on behalf of his sign lord, Mercury, who is with the 10th lord Sun from the ADL Sun. Moreover, Ketu is not afflicted and is under the benefic influence of the natural benefic, Venus.
In Dashamsha, PDL Ketu is in the 10th house of Jeevika/profession in Virgo ruled by Mercury. Mercury is in Scorpio. From the ADL Sun in Leo, the 10th house of profession is Taurus and is aspected by Mercury, the Dashamsha 10th lord and the sign dispositor of the PDL Ketu. PDL Ketu, therefore, fully qualifies to deliver the results of the 10th house since it is in the 10th house of Virgo and its sign lord, Mercury, has been aspecting the 10th house of Taurus from the ADL Sun in Leo. Moreover, PDL Ketu and Mercury are not afflicted.
Nobody is likely to teach the technique of Dasha analysis honestly, even in the paid classes, forget about it in free, which is the toughest subject in astrology, other than a few persons like me, who can be counted on the fingertips, and are on a mission to spread the knowledge of Hindu astrology across the globe.
